Thirty seven year old Nadine Connors has a good job in finance and money to do what she wants. She has everything, but someone to love. Nadine meets twenty seven year old Kim Bailey at a book club. Their interaction is brief, but Kim is immediately taken with the beautiful woman. They meet again at the grocery store where Kim is purchasing food for the local pantry. Nadine looks at the woman and begins to feel guilty. Nadine had always spent her money on herself instead of helping others. She decides to bring a check to the pantry where she finds out that Kim is in charge of donations. Nadine’s other problem with Kim is that she feels the woman has no ambitions and even though she can see Kim’s interest, she ignores that fact.
The women do get together and fall in love and you would think that is where the book would end, but it doesn’t. Life sometimes has a way of throwing you for a loop, but it is how you come out the other side that shows your character. Nadine may have started out as a materialistic woman, but Kim Bailey’s influence changed her in so many ways.

It was really nice to see the way Nadine's internal monolog changed as the story advances.It would have been nice to see more of Cheryl and Amber in the latter story, but nothing terrible.
As to Kim, she definitely was my favorite. You mean, mean author you. :)

I already liked this author, I have read many of books from her
But this was most definitely one of her best books.
I don't want to give the story away but the story line has so many emotions it takes you through. It is well written.
Nadine and Kim draw you in.
This story made me laugh and broke my heart and then put it back together..

I enjoyed this story so much, the characters are charming and kind. I had mixed feelings, Kim stole my heart, Nadine is so kind and naive and Sandy deserved the best.... It's a story of love and perseverance, of kindness and generosity. I've read all Rose books and never got disappointed, whenever you want a good, relaxing, romantic and soft reading.... Mrs Rose is definitely the right choice... Thanks for another great story!!!
This was an amazing book that takes you on an emotional journey of love, loss and finding love again. I love the interaction between the characters. I love the writing and how as your reading you can feel the emotions through the journey. I got teary eyed as I was reading. I felt every emotion as I read the story, as if I was there with the characters. This was an amazingly written story. I can never put Lydia's books down, once I start reading them. Can't wait for the next one.
After reading this I had mixed feelings. I loved the story, and the women in the story. I've ready many books about a woman who has lost her partner, wife, husband, and found love again. This is the first I've read where the book covers both courtships.

Kim's death was crushing, both to Nadine and the reader. But Nadine's finding a new love, not in place of Kim but seemingly to carry on the journey that she and Kim had started, made this a wonderful and emotional reading.
That being said, I found Ms. Rose's writing style choppy and pedestrian. Despite the emotions of the story there was no flow to the narrative. I wish I liked her writing better because I was really moved by the story she told.
This book is 💯 A-MA-ZING!!! The excellently strong concept, characters & narrative created an extremely well told, well developed & well written storyline.

It took me two attempts to actually finish this book because the 1st time I couldn't get over what happened to Kim to continue on. But I'm glad I tried again because it was perfect that the story continued after that & allowed the pain, sadness & grief to become peace, happy memories & celebrating the love that once came & still remains while allowing the one under a new name. Simply wonderful!!!
As I have stared before I dont know what it is but Lydia Rose is an author i just almost always have to read. Her works are usually fun cute reads that make you smile, flaws and all. This one though just didnt sit right with me...
The story with Kim was tok long. I actually lived that character and the dynamic between her and her wife. In all actuality I think her story was longer than that of Sandy. Now Sandy seemed like a great character and if more of the story had been about her, I think overall, the premise behind the title would have made sense. This doesb't make much sense I know; I'm trying not to give too much away. Anyways, the whole fall in love moved way too quick and getting to know the character was lacking a bit more than in her other books. If the story was longer and more detailed I would have liked it way more. Overall, not my favorite and would probably give it 2.5stars if I was able to (i like to round up)
